sprint tp2 on verizon network

I've got a buddy that needs to switch his phone over to our Verizon plan, his current plan was canceled due to a set of unfortunate events, he has a sprint branded tp2.

From what i read i need to security unlock it, flash a Verizon radio and Verizon stock rom (or at least provision it to Verizon) dial *228 ect ect, but I'm not sure how to get the esn on Verizon network

Am i correct in the process and does anyone else have valuable information to this topic? is this even possible anymore?
