I've texted a few times while at a stoplight, but ONLY while I was at the light and knew it would be red long enough. I don't even pick up the phone to read a message I just got. I wait till at a light. It's not important that you have to pick the dumb phone up while the car is going 45 MPH. My mind is too focused on the road. And the hell with multitasking. The only thing your ass should be doing while moving in a car, is driving and paying attention to the road + all obstacles. NOT using your phone, putting on makeup .. brushing your friggin hair. .............................. Now, i'm done with this OT subject. Lets get back to what this thread was supposed to be about. Start another thread if ya want to continue that... :p

Interesting take on this. To each his/her own I guess. If this works well for you, then cool. If I can't use a newer version, then I will probably just leave it alone. The one I had was the one that was ripped from the Omnia. Not real crazy about it, perhaps my sister with her Droid Eris would benefit from it.... that is, if they make a version for Android. She's had that phone for a few months and still not crazy about the touchscreen keyboard. She is used to dumbphones with tiny keys and qwerty keyboards. Wants something that would work better with her stubby thumbs lol.

That was the post I quoted, I thought you meant that you had stated that earlier. Oh well, No problem. I do understand that some folks can do more than one thing at a time. I know I can, and one of my daughters can. Swype has made it easier, less distractions and I can finish in seconds what normally took a minute. =D>

Just choose Swype from the keyboard menu on the bottom of the screen.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

Two things:

1. Amen, Solarflarex, why are the capable people punished? If you crash into someone, thats negligence, if you do it while on the phone thats more negligence. However to require everyone to operate like they are negligent is wrong. Things like eating, drinking, fiddling with stereo, or having a conversation with the person next to you can be just as distracting.

2. Does the new swype have navigation arrows like the new HTC softkeyboard? Thats the main thing I missed.

edit: clarification

i love swipe, so much faster and discreet, especially in class. you dont have to move your finger to space, just lift it. there is a learning curve, yes, but once you get it down its soooo much better than regular input.

hopefully you have the right one. I too was faced with the question about how swype will work with a stock sprint 6.5. I think I asked about it earlier in this thread and it devolved into a "you are dangerous texting and driving" conversation. there are some versions out there that hose your phone name and cause problems with your email. Hopefully that didn't just happen to you, but I read somewhere that someone else was having this problem too. I do not know what the solution is however. I think it was something about selecting the sip through advanced configuration or something (requiring another cab install for ya). And you have to run some mail fixer program to fix your mail.

Swype sucks. slideIT is much better. The responsiveness, the accuracy, the way you pick words is non-obtrusive. There is even a toggle in the upper right of the kb that allows you to make it a normal kb. Try the trial and you will see.

this video is for droid not tp2.. but you get the gist.

+1 for Slide it and Swype is ok too. It is a learning curve, when done it is worth it..

I can text much faster with HTC XT9 pad than anyone can with Swype guaranteed.

What total absolute B.S.

Even if that was true, what makes you think you qualify for that 5% & that other people don't??
