I found the solution!!!
I went to the Sprint store service center... I get a new TP2 with WM 6.5 already installed on Wednesday.
They were stumped and could not figure it out.

Hello all,

I was having this problem also right after I upgraded to Sprint stock 6.5. I ran it for a while with NO mods because I wanted to test how it worked as is.

I noticed that it wouldn't power back on the screen more often if I had left the phone at the Home screen (with the time up at the top). I also found that if I tried a series of long press, short press on the power button, then WAIT for about 30 to 60 seconds, the phone WILL come on. I quickly came to the conclusion that the weather animation and clock animation were causing the SLOW turn on.

So, I hunted for ways to turn off the weather animation and clock animation. I found two cabs that will do just that. Once I installed them, I hardly every have the problem!

I've attached the two cabs.
WVGA_2.5 is the clock flip fix. NoWeatherAnimations will turn off that slow animation. Sorry, I can't reference the creators as I just downloaded and saved them for myself. The original uploaders are on this forum!

I've since installed lots of other mods, including Cookie's.

I think the only times I have it not want to power back on the screen is when I've left the phone on the Home page with the clock up at the top, when I powered off the phone. With Cookie's mod, I usually leave the phone on the Home page, but with it scrolled UP so my shortcuts have filled the screen. My guess is that more fully disables any clock animation. Try that before you power off your phone (aka put it to sleep).

Good luck!

You're right... I too thought I had the problem solved... Read back on this thread....I would get it working great for a day or so and then the problem would repeat.
I finally got tired hard reset and still it was there. Thre hard resets in a row did not solve the problem... So I took it to the Sprint repair ctr with a fresh reset and I pick up my new unscratched phone on Wednesday.

Just an update... mine started doing it so much that I had to hard reset!

I don't know what happened to make it worse but what a pain in the ass.

will you be getting a brand new one or a refurb? im soo tempted to take mine in, but i'm afraid they'll order me a refurb (like when they replaced my diamond-don't want to go down that road again) I hope you get a new-in-box one! and that is doesn't have this problem. I may be going back to 6.1 in the meantime. never had this problem until i upgraded.

I doubt if this is a hardware problem. CHanging phone is not going to help.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50433; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

do you guys all dual boot in to android also? jus wondering that might be another common point? i havent booted in to android now in a long time though.

i also found it odd that there are a lot of reviews out there that say their tp2 was so fast after the sprint 6.5 upgrade and they could just leave every prog open without loosing performance. mine is definaly not like that. i also kill about all progs when i'm done to keep the phone running fast.
