file explorer continuously working to display files by "type"

there seems to be a problem with the file explorer. i went to the windows folder and chose to organize it via type and it kept working and working for over 5-10mins and for these 5-10mins, none of the other buttons on screen worked either. so i got annoyed of waiting and exited the file explorer via the only way possible, the front hard keys. but exiting didn't really solve the problem. ending the file explorer via task manager hasn't solved it either because when i go back to the file explorer, it starts to work again on displaying the windows folder. the problem presists after a soft reset as well. any solutions besides just waiting on the file explorer to refresh itself automatically?

Click on the View selector on the top right and change it to name. It usually only takes a while to display files by type when viewing the Windows folder.

well it turns out i didn't have to hard reset. if you wait long enough (dunno how long, maybe an hour? i just left it running, just checked it after a while) it will sort the folder by type. then you can switch back to name within seconds.

i have been having trouble with file explorer on my 6.5.3 custom ROM since I went to the ROM. i gave up and got iss file explorer pro. works well and was cheap.

I had this problem this morning. Here is the work around that I found.

1. Launch Internet Explorer
2. Go to the Favorites and click create
3. Set the URL to \Program Files\ and save it
4. Click the favorite you just created, this launches File Explorer pointing at Program Files
5. Change the sort type back to Name

Now you will be able to browse the Windows folder. Click Thanks if this helped you.
