Re: Any way to organize Start Menu by names of items?
This does work but can take a while. You just have to figure what you want on the bottom and work your way up.

Re: Any way to organize Start Menu by names of items?
i'm on the newest version of Mighty Rom (6.5/2.5). and yes, i have tried going into file explorer and moving things around into new folders and so on, but like i said, creating a new folder will just throw it to the bottom of the list because it is newer and name plays no part and cutting/pasting some items breaks the icons which i am not trying to do. as for the mighty rom start menu organizer, yes, this is what i resorted to, but still, any items that are added to these preset folders go to the bottom of the list. i would like them to reorganize according to name. i'm guessing that there is most likely no way to do this

Re: Any way to organize Start Menu by names of items?
Most of these suggestions do not address the original question, which had to do with reorganizing the Start menu, not replacing it.
reStart will work, but it doesn't do automatic sorting. JWMD Icon Changer will let you reorganize your Start menu or move icons to any order you like, and has a button for easily sorting things alphabetically. I personally use Total Commander to create folders and move icons into them, then sort with JWMD Icon Changer. In some folders I put my most-frequently-used things at the top and have the remainder sorted alphabetically. It doesn't do anything automatically, so each time you add something you have to go in and sort again, and the new order only shows up after a soft boot. It remains the best solution I've found thus far. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567080 |

I use JWMD Icon Changer to sort
But first, I use JSPA Program Manager to easily move the programs into their own folders (very easy to use, IMO) http://jaywinmodev.blogspot.com/2009...ws-you-to.html |

Interesting. I don't really see any advantage to this over using a file manager. Have you found any? Here's a more direct link: http://www.jaysonragasa.net/post/JSP...esolution.aspx |

reStart is the best manual sorting option for 6.5, which is one of the reasons I don't use 6.5 anymore. When I used reStart, I always backed up my icons and the registry setting that put them in the proper order. Then I had the correct icons and order after every flash. This process is tedious, which is why everyone is suggesting Start Menu replacements. They're not doing it out of ignorance or spite. |

Re: Any way to organize Start Menu by names of items?
As stated above use the program JWMD Icon Changer to sort your start menu. Its the easiest way I've found. Here's what i do once i have all the programs organized in the folders i want.. run the program, click "menu", then "tools", then "Sort Current Items". now click "ASC" to sort alphabetically and then click "By Type" to list all of your organized folders first. Hit save and yes to the soft-reset. Everything should now be clutter free and alphabetically listed in your start menu.
