Manila 2.1 texts sound notications cut off. Help??

Whenever I use a Manila 2.1 (Sense 2.1 I believe) ROM and have the text messaging window open, the sound notification either does not play or plays for a split second and cuts out. The sound notifications play fine when I'm in any other window other than the SMS window. Help???
