Sprint TP2 with Rogers sim? Wont work! HALP

Hey guys, so I will be in Canada for the next 2 weeks so a friend lent me his Rogers sim for the bit I will be here. So far the Rogers sim will not work, it connects me with a bell recording which pretty much says go screw yourself.
I was under the impression that a Sprint TP2 should be unlocked and usable with any international network?
