Re: Orb TV Streaming performance on TP2

When I configure my device to stream video using the .pls format.... it crashes the ORB server on my computer everytime. I am using Windows 7 64bit.

.asx works but is choppy as heck.
.3gp work and is smooth, but it's blurry. (and only plays in a tiny window... not full screen)
running it as FLASH just makes the screen go black.

As the previous guy said, I don't have the cash for a slingbox... AND, I don't want to watch TV, I just would like to stream videos that are on my home PC. Any other ideas?

Same result here, .pls crashes my Win 7 64 Ulitmate

If you're just streaming videos and NOT TV, look in to KinomaFreePlay.

It handles Orb VERY nicely, but doesn't support TV.

Re: Orb TV Streaming performance on TP2

So... the reason I think it's a user agent, is because to make it work properly on the TP1 you had to use PIE so Orb would recognize as a mobile device and send QVGA video (since standard TV is 480i anyway it looks very nice at QVGA)

So is there a way to hack the user agent to tell Orb that I'm on a mobile device instead of a PC?

I'm using CorePlayer version 1.3.2 build 6909

I left out some additional info that might help some of you.

First, make sure you're not trying to stream at a bitrate your 3G connection can't handle. Within Orb's web interface not only change the streaming format to .pls but make sure you restrict the sream bitrate to something more manageable. I recommend setting it to 150k and working it up from there.

Second, within Coreplayer I found adjusting the video settings gave me better playback as well. From the menu, select Tools/Preferences. From the new window at appears select "Select Page"/Video. Change the video output to Direct Draw or Raw FrameBuffer. You can experiment for best results. Also from "Select Page"/Buffering, select the "Low Delay Streaming" check box.

Third, I recommend launch orb videos from Pocket Internet Explore. Launching videos from Orb within Opera caused crashes for me. Similar to what you guys have described.

You should be good to go... happy viewing and I hope this helps!

Re: Orb TV Streaming performance on TP2

I tried it with coreplayer using asx and pls and orb crashes on my computer

I tried asx with pocket media player, it worked for about a minute then froze, restarted the device and now when i try to play a stream it says :

The file STREAM.ASX cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its complenents cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file
