New to TP2

Hi all,

I am on Verizon
I am new to the TP2.

I am coming from the Omnia (custom rom'ed Omnia of course), and just upgraded to the TP2... should get it tomorrow...

Any tips to start with? Not sure on the quad band stuff??? So this will have a sim card in it... Does that mean that I can turn off the CDMA radio, and throw a pre-pay sim or one from say att, and use it on another network?

Not sure I made the right choice moving to the TP2, as I loved my omnia. The omnia, was beginning to crap out on me. It was either pay $50 (insurance) for a refurb, or upgrade for $100 (Ne2), and the Keyboard on the TP2 was the decision tipper.

best advice is read some information online, mainly get the device first (lol), so you can start playing with it. might want to stick with stock for a few weeks to get the hang, then unlock and figure out what ROM you like best. There are many good roms out there. congrats on the TP2..it's a great business device.

Just so you know i imagine you have the extended warranty with the insurance option which means you have unlimited free replacements for a non physically damaged device.

Check which version of WM comes on your phone...most likely, it will be 6.1. Upgrade to Verizon's WM 6.5 here (you get the upgraded radio) - no need to unlock the phone as this is the VZW shipped version

Play with that for a while, then read up on which custom ROM you may want (and knowing the steps to unlock and flash a rom.

Well, I got it. So far I like it.

Came with Win Mo 6.5 Pro CE OS 5.2.21874 (Build 21874.5.0.83)
Rom Version 3.04.605.3 dated 11/17/09

Radio 2.23.00WV

So far I have left evrything stock, other than flashing hard spl.

I did install [ICS_and_WModem_Fix.cab], and [HTC Wi-Fi Sharing.cab]
seems to work (hope I don't get charged for the data).

Also I installed the following;
At0mAng_Enhanced_D3D_Driver.cab
Disable Verizon SMS Message Sent.cab
Enable_All_Camera_Modes.cab
galarm-QVGA_2.3.cab
Pandora-TP2(WVGA).cab

So Far evrything is working very well!

Still undecided, on weather I flash to a custom rom... Was thinking Mightyrom war, but not sure if I am currently losing any functionality with the stock rom. With the omnia, I was flashing evry couple of days, to take care of this bug, or that glitch... It might be nice to have this just work!

If you want to try a Mighty rom and you have definitely unlocked it with the hard spl, i'd try his stable 6.5, 2.1 sense. you'll like that and you can cruise with that a few days before you go to one of his project roms like War or Impact. Just my thoughts. Enjoy!
