need help getting headphone jack feature to work

ok, here is my slight irritation. in the stock rom, you could have the phone on vibrate or silent, and plug in headphones where it would turn the volume on automatically, then unplug the headphones and the sound would revert back to either silent or vibrate. i have vary recently flashed to "Energy Leo 21892", and this feature has diapered, to my knowledge. anyone know how i can get this back?
