ummmmm.....actually you fail unless sprint somehow has the ability to know what rom your using without you mentioning anything while your talking to customer support....

Let me correct you......tethering is not free from sprint or from any carrier for that matter....there is no such thing as the free tetherplan.
Also, the OP did not state that they were using a cooked rom or stock. It doesn't matter at this point....unless your installing a .cab or using a cooked rom tethering will not work.
