Re: Sleep OF Death!

Try disabling the auto adjust backlighting setting. Once I did this, my SOD problems went away.

Mine is somehow related to emails. If I get an email and don't check it immediately...it will SOD. It happens about 85% of the time. Using both IMAP and exchange email. I also use S2U2, I may try disabling the message preview feature. Overclocking seems to exacerbate the problem as well.

haven't seen this issue on any 6.1 roms I've tried but I seen it on all 6.5 roms. so there's the culprit.

That's like saying my internet always works because I use a 14.4 modem with Windows 95...

A more important observation may be that since I disabled the message preview option of S2U2, it hasn't SOD'd since...even overclocking to 748.

I just started having this problem...was using an Engery Rom 6.5 since August without any issues and all of a sudden it started to happen. Tried downgrading to wm6.1 and still have the issue. Tried a Hard reset and Task29...the backlight settings and no lockscreen and the problem is still there. Even tried the timeout settings in the registry but to no available solution. One day it worked fine the whole day but came right back the next. I dont see it to be hardware related as when I pull out the sylus...the send/end buttons light up but not the screen. When I press the sleep button it turns the button lights off so the button works....something software related which means we should be able to fix this...ANYONE have a fix?????

If you flash the shipped 6.1 rom and you still get sod then I'd say you probably have a hardware problem. It could be a bad ribbon cable that connects the two halves.

I don't get many SODs, but when I do, I simply call my phone, and it wakes up

Re: Sleep OF Death!

Which version of MR are you? I have MR1 which is 6.5, but not the newest version. Originally after updating it, I installed a lot of cabs, then uninstalled quiet a bit, which I think causes the problem, but I could be wrong. I kept getting it up until I hard reset it. The main reason I think that this is the issue causing it is that once I had a major issue on my phone, I hard reset it and installed only the programs i really wanted. Since then I have NEVER had a SOD. My phone runs great without any problems. It took me a little while to reinstall, but much better then calling it to wake it or just getting frustrated in general with it.

cbreze,
I'm having the SOD issue w/my Tilt2. It's an AT&T unit I got 2nd hand off ebay and it's been working fine for several months. I'm running it with a PureTalk USA SIM. Where do you find those ROMs you're talking about? THen, once you find them, how do you install/flash them to the unit?
Thanks in advance, Patrick

Sorry for your issue, and I have a comment only, I could not handle all the various little issues I seemed to pick up when I tried the verizon 6.5 oem rom. I know alot rave about it and thats fine. I tried several customs and found alot of peace and stability. I'm currently back on 6.1 oem and was wondering if you'd tried flashing back. yeah, it's 6.1 but imho, so what? It works and works very fine. If you haven't tried it you should then flash forward again if you want, that might help also.... cheers
