Anyone can discuss how to increase battery life

I know there are registry hacks to increase poll interval, and also tips like set 30% backlight level, weather/email/GPS manual update etc. Other than that, different custom ROMs still vary in battery life. Some like MightyROM or MalROM have a very good battery life (even better than non-tweaked stock IMO). Another issue might be too many programs installed, and maybe Sense 2.5 also consumes more power than 2.1.

Any experiences on how to increase battery life that I am not aware of? Thanks!
