Does the cap completly stop internet or just drop the speed? A few minutes ago it was stuck at 10-20kpbs.
They do NOT charge you for data unless you are on an older plan that does not include unlimited data.

the debate wasn't necessarily about being charged as much as there being a cap but you are correct as far as I know. I believe tha tif they have a problem with the amout of data you are using the can cancle or suspend your service. Thats what I got from it anyways. So NO they do not charge you.

My feelings aren't hurt, I'm just surprised by the tone you've taken with me. My post, #53, doesn't seem to contradict what you just said. What makes you think I don't get this?

Your first post in this thread pointed out that you use a lot of data each month and haven't gotten charged, which gives credibility to the fact that there's no cap. A few others chimed with with similar experiences. The problem I attempted to address was that people were posting about charges and being denied service without any evidence that this exists. I tried to contribute by adding a link to Sprint's terms and conditions. I was simply asking you to help by providing a link to the quote you gave. Did I hurt your feelings?

I've been a Sprint SERO customer for about 2-1/2 years. I'm on the $30/month plan and use Google Voice along with Pick 5. I basically have unlimited voice, text, and data service. I tether my netbook to my TP2 using USB cable, which doesn't require installation of any additional software or tweaking of settings to avoid being caught tethering. My data usage is not very high, so I can't give firsthand experience that there's not cap, but I'm a believer. I can say that I haven't gotten charged for tethering, but remember that I connect via USB cable and not WiFi or BT.

Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?

we are in agreement about no charges But Sprint does imply a, lets say, limited unlimited data usage in their TOS. We are also in agreement that no one has ever heard of Sprint enforcing this. I'm an a$$ so your just gonna have to ignore me. (that was an apology) Im on the Unlimited plan and have been with Sprint for over 11 years.

Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?

i used about 1,744,034 last month i only use my phone as internet at my job twice a week but all night. i refrain from downloading files as not to go over just in case. just so if i do its not an every single time scenario just in case but i wouldnt think sprint would care. they're really laid back about stuff like that as long as your paying your bill and not stealing thousands of dollars of revenue from them

Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?

phone caps where never really enforced, unless obvious abuse was common as everyone has found out. i wonder when they changed the verbiage in the TOS, all the ones at our store still have the cap listed.

data cards do get charged, i had a customer who was wondering why he had a $600 data overage. he said that he only checked his email and what not with it, but his roommate watched alot of porn, i told him your roommate better find a new hobby lol.

Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?

very easy - there is a 5gb cap(no matter which "unlimited" plan u use on Sprint-read contract) but Sprint rarely enforces it, looks like the enforcement done by hand and on user to user basis. Enough discussion

Oh and by the way look at this part.
Data: Services are not available with all Sprint phones. Usage is calculated on a per kilobyte basis and is rounded up to the next whole kilobyte. Rounding occurs at the end of each session or each clock hour and, at which time we deduct accumulated usage from your plan, or assess overage or casual usage charges. You are responsible for all data activity from and to your device, regardless of who initiates the activity. Estimates of data usage will vary from actual use. Your invoice will not separately identify the number of kilobytes attributable to your use of specific sites, sessions or services used. Premium content (games, ringers, songs, etc.) priced separately. Services are not available for use in connection with server devices or host computer applications, other systems that drive continuous heavy traffic or data sessions, or as substitutes for private lines or frame relay connections. Except with Phone-as-Modem plans, you may not use a phone (including a Bluetooth phone) as a modem in connection with a computer, PDA, or similar device. We reserve the right to deny or terminate service without notice for any misuse or any use that adversely affects network performance. Availability of downloadable or streaming content is subject to change, including but not limited to television channels and radio stations. If user is not subscribed to a data included plan or add-on, pay-as-you go charges are incurred when using data applications and services.

And just in case you wanna run it under PAM
Data Usage Limitation (Mobile Broadband Cards, USB Modems, Embedded Modems and Phone-As-Modem): The amount of data transmitted over our network is measured in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred; and to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if usage either exceeds (a.) 5GB/month in total, unless specified otherwise or (b.) 300MB/month while off-network roaming. 1024KB equal 1MB. 1024MB equal 1GB.

CW

I don't think the TOS that you showed is valid for this argument and here is why.

Using up over 5gb will not affect the network performance in any way nether does it account for misuse.

It does not fall under PAM either because PAM means you are using their Phone-As-Modem service which is extra cost.

This on the other hand means you can't use your phone as a modem all together cap or not.

So from this if you were to download over 5gb on your cellphone directly, you would in no way violate the ToS.

Also to note you may theoretically avoid the "as modem" if you use wifi instead of usb or bluetooth...But then again it kinda contradicts itself saying it cant use a pda or similar device as a modem which would include itself >.> lol

Re: sprint 5g cap on TP2?

I don't know any current or past Sprint customer that has gotten into trouble for using more than 5GB data. Again, I am about 6 days into my new circle and passed 8GB on one line already without tethering. I travel a lot and I hardwired my TP to the car stereo for the audio and my slingbox provides me with the rest. My trips are from San Diego to Las Vegas and back to the OC twice a week and if you know the network gaps you can have a good trip (I loose data only twice during the trip - no bad for a 400 mile trip).

Sprint has a good network but a bad reputation which is about to change as people see that you can save money.

I also own a T-Mobile and AT&T phone and I can tell you that I rather go down to 1x than use Edge. Most of the audio feeds (Pandora or di.fm) need at least 1x.
