Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this... (sorry if it isn't the right place)
I don't know if the hardware requirements are known yet, but does anyone know if we'll be able to upgrade our Touch Pro 2's to Windows Phone 7? |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
We will not. Sprint will only get 6.5 whenever they plan on releasing it, might even be after Wm7 comes out...lol But only the Hd2 will get 7.

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I don't think the tp2 has the processor 'required' and is not capacitive touch, but other than that, you can bet that here @ ppcgeeks there will be a w7p port. ;)

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
=( I just got my TP2 and I've been really happy with it... but todays news just makes WM6.5 on my TP2 seem so obsolete... If there's a Windows Phone 7 port, I hope it runs smoothly...

2 - WinMo 7 really seems like MS destroying one of the huge reasons everyone likes WinMo - customization and freedom in general. As far as I'm concerned - keep it. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Shit, I just convinced a few people to buy TP2's because I thought the TP2 would be able to support WM7.
Windows 6.5 is still the best option for the next 10 months. |

I don't even think hd2 will get an official update anymore, all wp7's seem to be using the 3 button design, and the hd2 still has 4 buttons, like the zune wp7 is suppose to only use 3 buttons. of course someone will be able to rip it and probably load it being the hardware supports it, but i doubt htc and windows will give it an official update, but of course i don't work for htc or windows so only time will tell. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Did anyone notice they avoided showing what the text msgs, emails and phone functionality look like, or am I missing videos here?
Wouldn't it be hilarious that they bring the oldschool look into it again? LOL |

Also the OS itself probably won't ever be ported but I'm sure someone will make a custom UI that resembles it heavily. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I'm guessing something like throttle, wisbar, or spb would bring something very similar to the tables once all is in order

Yawn... as I pretty much expected nothing to live up to the hype. Bring on the supersonic Sprint!

Ugg...I'm all for innovation but I'm dreading the marriage of windows Mobile and something like Games for Windows Live. But hey, looks like it'll sync with my 360 so I guess that's something. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Did anybody notice they're making 3 versions of windows mobile 7? Windows Phone- Flashy Lots Of Eye Candy, need fast Device. Windows mobile 7 Professional Not as flashy and less hardware requirements. And a Third which I cannot recall.

When is the Supersonic supposed to come out? I've been looking for a date/ETA but notta.
I just lost my tp2 in a drunken stupor, got a new one on the way from Asurion, but I won't even unbox it if the Supersonic is close ... |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
so is this the official windows phone 7 thread in the tp2 forum? if so, might as well post this for those who haven't seen it... 20 minutes up close and personal with windows phone 7 software. I'm diggin it. Could use some custom themes on some screens though.

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I didnt get my TP2 for WinMo....has anyone put any thought into how Sense (hopefully 3.0) will integrate with all that less than professional garbage? I would much rather have the Sense interface but if 7's interface is so ingrained into the OS, I guess I don't see how it'll be possible.
Not to mention it has the iPhone multitasking setup.... |

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
The supersonic will probably be the "summer" phone for Sprint, so more than likely, June/July. This is completely blind speculation. I've not heard anything at all about it.

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I wonder if the HD Mini will have the 1ghz Snap Dragon? That looks like a cool phone for hopefully the rest of the U.S. since it was just pointed out that T-Mobile has an exclusive on the HD2 in the U.S.

Tp2 a pretty shiny paper weight? I have a dual boot android winmo phone now...I LOVE my shiny paper weight!

LOL... I dual boot android too! who ever said that paper weight stuff obviously can't afford it, or doesn't know how to customize their phone!....lol noobs. :evil4: |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I dont know if this is posted. If so I do apologize. This forum is a cluttered mess and Im already a organizational klutz. Its a Windows 7 cab to set the screen up like Win 7.
Install, Restart, then go to Start and its listed. Just open it up and it loads over whatever your running. Very early, slow, glitchy. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Does anybody has any updates if there is going to be an upgrade to Windows Phone 7 for the Touch Pro 2?
|
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
:angry7: well, at least he didnt start a new thread about it!
and to answer you question, NO! |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Thanks Austin,
I was reading today that there was not going to be an upgrade option for the HD2 but it didn't say anything about the TP2, that's why I asked. :dontknow: |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Nope, no upgrade to WP7 for TP2 since device doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements.
|
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I'm sure WM7 will be cool and all, but I'll be perfectly happy with my TP2 dual booting Android and 6.5.3. I haven't even begun the real customizing yet as it just works so damned well already! If you are a technophile who just HAS to have WM7, then its time to upgrade.
Personally I am looking forward to the next 1+ years w/my TP2. After that WM7 will be properly patched and working great, and my upgrade will be ready, then we'll see about some newer more powerful devices. If you are itching for a project and have a TP2. Get Android on there and help the devs test stuff out! We still need sound up in here! |

Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
I feel a little better knowing the phone I got less than 2 months ago doesn't need to be thrown away next week ^^ I'm bummed if the next windows won't be really customizable. What's the feeling on that... do people think it still will be, just a little trickier than tapping a cab file? Or is it truly possible for it to be locked down totally and the OS will never improve?
I saw they started putting out custom droid x roms, is the droid pretty customizable? If windows 7 can't be tweaked fully maybe that's a good place to jump ship. I may install this dual boot thing, sounds cool. edit: actually I just read this - http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/24/h...e-7-after-all/ ...that's good, sense can be pretty thoroughly customized to look pretty pimp. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
yes...install android. i use android about half the time now.
i am getting very good results using the following procedure. task29-mightrom official-android RAR install (not cab) copy a shortcut to the little android link to your start menu. boots to android faster than wm after the initial setup. |
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
wp7 is hot today
|
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
i dont think it has the capability to run WM7... However the HD2 runs Wm6.5 and you can actually run 7 as well.. im not sure based on this if itll be the same case..
|
Re: Windows Phone 7 on Touch Pro 2?
Sure would be cool if it did...
