Re: New TP2 User
to answer your GPS question: as long as you use a 3rd party app, GPS navigation is no extra monthly charge. (sprint nav and telenav have a monthly fee)
amAze is a good, free GPS app. i personally use tomtom navigator

the gps will work fine, but the maps have to be downloaded and would be considered data usage right? |

when u have sprint sero, nav is included w/sero for free and u get a $10 discount every month as long as the employee u got ur sero thru is still a sprint employee. my bill was $20 instead of $30 and i had free nav from may-round january, when my friend got laid off... shortly after, i got a call from some1 high up at sprint and he explained all this to me. i had a instinct s30 on my sero so when i got that call he explained that i either needed to change fones or plans since i would no longer have free nav on my sero and Instinct OS, WebOS, and Android require navigation. i chose to get a tp2 and keep my sero ![]()

Re: New TP2 User
Not sure if the OP knows the dif between sprint nav and others like tomtom, iguidance, etc. Some 3rd party programs (tomtom, garmin, etc) store maps on the storage card of your phone so they only need a gps signal to function. Others like Sprint Nav, or Google Maps require an internet connection because they access the maps online while you are driving. These programs require you to have a data plan to function. You will be charged for the internet usage if you don't have a plan. Sprint Nav also requires you to sign up for that service individually if you don't get it in an everything plan. I believe the charge is 10 bucks a month. There are better free alternatives out there as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Re: New TP2 User
I'm aware of the different GPS programs which is why I was asking in regards to 3rd party GPS apps. My understanding is that sprint nav is not included with SERO even though SERO plans have unlimited data usage.
I'm currently using amAze and Google Maps. amAze is okay but kinda clunky and not very intuitive. The only issue with goggle maps, is that its not very accurate. I have quick GPS enabled to help speed up positioning. |
