Anyway to disable cannot connect notification bubble?

I'm a new user of TP2. Previously owned Palm Treo 700wx & 800w, both of which had aGPS, which required initial network access to initialize the GPS. The phone radio can be turned off to simulate no coverage area, while routing with GPS. I've tested the HTC in a similar situation and found that the TP2 (Sprint) does not require network access to iniatilize the internal GPS. I basically turned off the phone radio, performed a soft reset, and then started my Garmin. Garmin was able to to acquire my position with the phone radio off, but the only issue is that the notification bubble, stating that it cannot connect keeps coming up. Garmin waits until I clear the notification to continue. This bubble pops up almost every few seconds, so it's very hard to navigate. I performed a search as well as a google search, and haven't found any info on this. I was wondering if anyone knows how to turn off the cannot connect message.

This is the exact message...
Quote:
Cannot Connect
Cannot connect. Ensure that your phone is correctly configured, service is available, and the flight mode is turned off before trying again.
I believe I had the same issue on my Sprint Palm Treo 800w (WM6.1 Pro), but I seem to recall that I just had to uncheck on option under Sounds and Notification. I didn't see any option on the Sprint TP2. Anyone know how to turn off this annoying cannot connect notification bubble?

Re: Anyway to disable cannot connect notification bubble?

I don't believe there ever was an option to disable notification in question under "Sounds and Notifications". There must be a regedit for it, however, I couldn't find one.

Do you still get the pop-up with the radio off while you're not running Garmin?
If so, find out what is trying to establish a data connection and turn it off also when you use Garmin.

With that being said, I've never used garmin, does it require a data connection to download maps/directions like Google maps does or is all the navigation info preloaded on your device?

Re: Anyway to disable cannot connect notification bubble?

Yeah, I was afraid of that. But thanks to your reply, something just struck me. The notification messages only come up with the phone radio off and Garmin is running. Garmin use locally stored maps, which is useful when being out in an area with little or no cellular signal. I did have Garmin set to connect to Garmin Online ALWAYS. Garmin Online allows me to check the latest weather in the area, as well as performing a Google search of local POI's. Anyways, I just changed Garmin Online to PROMPTED and the notification bubble is gone. Stupid me, I should have looked at the app.

Well, at least I now have a near perfect device.

Re: Anyway to disable cannot connect notification bubble?

I figured it might have been something simple as that.
Glad you got it going!
