Duplicate Birthdays and Anniversaries after Active Sync

Hello Group

After I sync the TP2 (running Verizon's 6.5) via ActiveSync 4.5 to my XP SP3 computer running Outlook 2003, any contacts that I have made any changes to on the phone create duplicate birthday and anniversaries in Outlook.

This isn't the "birthdays/anniversaries one day before" issue because I've applied the DT fix, these events are actually being duplicated.

They're easy enough to find and fix in Outlook (they post without an event type), but it is annoying, especially since I link to Facebook and every time one of my friends changes their mood and posts it makes a duplicate birthday .

I've tried to resolve this by trying to delete both the duplicate entry sometimes, and the original other times (thinking ActiveSync would recognize the calendar entry it created), but this doesn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks to all

Re: Duplicate Birthdays and Anniversaries after Active Sync

I can clean the duplicates up manually, it only creates a few at a time and they're easy enough to see. I'm just looking for a way for it to stop creating the duplicates in the first place.

Stop using active sync.... That's what I found.

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

Yea, ACtivesync is awesome like that. I can always count on it to do what I want, then completely screw it up somehow. Now I just limit it to push e-mail. .

(stupid Activesync...)

Re: Duplicate Birthdays and Anniversaries after Active Sync

Birthdays and anniversaries are pretty much a complete disaster on WM. Between duplicates, the one hour shift, and the bug that causes them to become "once every 12 years," it's safe to say it just plain doesn't work.

Re: Duplicate Birthdays and Anniversaries after Active Sync

Looks like the issue is Outlook, not ActiveSync (which would make sense, Outlook is the app that would have to determine whether records on the phone were actually duplicates or not), and its a problem with Outlook 2003 and possibly 2007

Nope, I think it's fairly common. Some people suggested it was due to the calendar entries having no end date. I put end dates on (I assume all my friends and family will be dead by 2200). I did see it once since then, but that was the first time I sync'd to my second computer after making the change. (The phone and computer 1 had it, but computer 2 didn't yet). I fixed it again manually. Too soon to tell if it's going to happen again.
