New member with sync problems

Miserable owner of an HTC TP2 here. I'll pause there and say that I do like the phone, so no complaints there. But I'm having horrible problems with WMDC syncing. So I'm hoping to find some help here as well as participate in whatever way I can do so.

My TP2 is a T-mobile running 6.5. Got a Dell XPS running Windows 7 HP with the latest version of WMDC.

What happens is that when first sync the phone, starting off with a fresh install of WMDC and a hard reboot of the phone, it syncs with my outlook contacts and calendar perfectly. However, if, a couple days later I plug the phone into the computer via the USC cord (I've tried several), all Outlook information is erased. Then, WMDC will not let me check any of the options in connection settings, with an "outlook not installed" message.

Here's what I've tried so far that hasn't worked.

1. unchecked the box for faster connection on the phone.
2. Numerous reboots on computer.
3. Fixmapi.exe
4. Detect and repair on outlook.
5. Doing a clean reinstall on the phone and not loading any other apps. Still happens.
6. Hours of calls with T-mobile. No help at all.
7. several calls to HTC. No help at all though someone did say that they are aware of the problem and taking it "seriously". (not a good sign)

So now, all I can do is not sync the phone, since the uninstall and reinstall of WMDC takes too much time, and doing a hard reboot of the phone and then reinstalling everything is ridiculous.

Gratitude.
Richard

Re: New member with sync problems

Have you tried deleting the "pairing" by going to the WMDC->Device Settings->End Partnership and deleting the sync folder and then attempt to re-sync?

Re: New member with sync problems

Many times. Usually, even after doing that it still says outlook isn't installed, though once in a while it does work.

Re: New member with sync problems

I had nothing but problems with WMDC. I would say ditch it and use MYPHONE. Much better and easier to use. It also backs up automatically every night.

+1 for using Microsoft My Phone, as there are so many tales similar to the OP's concerning issues syncing with WMDC that I believe this is the path of least resistance.

Re: New member with sync problems

I do use MyPhone if you mean microsoft's online service. It's good, but I really need to keep things synced with Outlook on my laptop.
