Re: Can activesync (or another program) be setup sync one category of contacts?
I believe you can filter your contacts. Basically, label all your personal contacts as personal in Outlook, and on your phone you should be able to click on "all contacts" then click on "menu" then "filter" and select personal.
I think you need to go through your outlook contacts and set up the different categories first though, before it shows up as filter options on your phone |

thx for the response. I get what you are saying. What I'm asking though, is if there is a way to never even have those contacts get over to the phone at all. i.e. have activesync just ignore them.

Re: Can activesync (or another program) be setup sync one category of contacts?
I researched this as well when I bought my TP2, and had to switch from Windows Mail to Outlook 2007. I wasn't able to find a way to do what you're wanting to do, as I wanted to do the exact same thing.
I ended up creating a couple of other Contact Folders for ones I didn't need/want on my phone, and this works fine, as you suggest in your post. I'll be happy to stand corrected if somebody is aware of a way to do this using just Categories.

I do the same. I think creating other contact folders is the only way
