Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

It seems like I've been at this forever, but...I'm trying to get some of my music onto my Tp2. But, apparently, the the music tab on the home page and windows media is calling/storing the music in different places, I can't get it to display the album art, adding the artist's name in with the titles, etc, etc...generally being a real pain.

I've tried just moving stuff around with via my pc, tried using Windows Media Player while synced up, and still it's hit or miss...I even d'loaded Mp3Tag thinking it was a tagging issue, but nada.

Anyone know of a quick/painless way for me to get this to work? I keep threatening to return to my "old ways" and go back to my ancient Ipod classic, but I need another electronic device to carry around about like I need another hole in my head...

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

I used this post to clean up my library and to ensure that only music from my music folder on the sd card got picked up by the TF3D music tab. It made using the TP2 for a music player easier.

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

Anyone have a specific music folder that their Tp2 absolutely would *not* recognize?

Yesterday I uploaded several GB of music, in the proper Artist/Album/Song format, and when I "update library" it will detect all but one folder...it will recognize it and open it via the "open file" command, and you can see it via File Explorer, but Windows Media will not add it to the library? I've changed the folder title, dumped the contents into another folder, moved it, etc...nada. It's Nickelback, so it's no great loss if it's not on there, but I found it odd it worked on the rest of the library...

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

Anyone know the rhyme or reason with the "htc_" files that the Tp2 is adding within the specific artist/album folders? Some folders just have the folder.jpg, some have an htc_albumart.jpg as well, and others have multiple htc_ .jpg images with odd names? And part of them have a cache file?

My Tp2 isn't recognizing all of my folders, so I'm trying to figure out exactly *how* it wants these folders...

i'm going to go out on a limb and say something is wrong with your storage card. i had that problem before, found out my card was corrupted. it should sync up with your card and wmp with no problems. i just d/l'd music 30 mins. ago and they're all there.

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

The odd thing is, out of 400 songs, only a couple folders (all Nickelback and 1 Metallica) won't be picked up by the Windows Media player? They'll play from the file explorer, but won't pop up on the album list...??

BTW: this is a brand new 16gb class-6

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

Here's an example of some wacky file names...

~hTC_All the Right Reasons.jpg
AlbumArt_{FF1D2E96-DE54-444F-B327-0339F70B3F0E}_Large.jpg
AlbumArt_{FF1D2E96-DE54-444F-B327-0339F70B3F0E}_Small.jpg
AlbumArtSmall.jpg
desktop.ini
folder.jpg
hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
Nickelback - Rockstar.mp3

In my folders that work, I simply have the songs, a folder.jpg, and an htc_AM_AlbumArt.jpg...so I'm gonna delete all the extra stuff and see if it works.

Re: Argh?! Need help: uploading/organizing music on Tp2

ARRGHH! WM is doing it again...picking & choosing which folders/files to display!

Before it was just the entire Nickelback folder...now, about 2/3 of my AC/DC album folders aren't being recognized, along with one of my Tom Petty album folders, and a few other hit & miss folders.

I've checked permissions, removed them then added them back, gone over them in Media Monkey...they'll show up fine in File Explorer and Total Commander, but when I update my library (or even totally rebuilt it using this link) I keep getting the same results?

It's really starting to aggrivate me...
