Re: Longer texts on 1 Page!!!!

I know, for example, an iPhone on T-Mobile will break up a long text message, however, an iPhone on AT&T will keep the long message as one note.

Why not just email if you have a lot to say?
Because I don't want to reply to a text with a Email! I'll reply to a email with an email.

Re: Longer texts on 1 Page!!!!

You can write a picture mail message. I believe the character limit is 1000 on those. Also, when you go beyond the 160, it will just send multiple messages to the person. I receive multi-page SMS texts all the time. They show up on my phone as (1/3): (2/3): (3/3) etc.

Re: Longer texts on 1 Page!!!!

Oh and just to muddy the waters further, longer texts (read: SMS, not MMS) will have different behavior depending on what network you are on and where you are sending to. I can only speak for Verizon, but here is the deal.

Let's say you are on Verizon, and you create a message 208 characters in length. You send this to another smartphone users on AT&T and Verizon at the same time. The AT&T person will have the message split in two and receive the whole message, whereas the Verizon users gets the "previous message side was modified" and you get a message back saying the entire message couldn't be delivered to the Verizon user.

So what gives? The best explanation I got for it is that when you send carrier to carrier (i.e. Verizon to AT&T) the message gets split up either as part of the protocol they use between themselves, or by the other carrier as they receive it. However, Verizon does not do this for internal messages (Verizon to Verizon). What happens then is that you will get that behavior depending on your devices capabilities and Verizon's profile for it.

Standard flip phone seems to be able to break up messages going VZW to VZW.. smartphone like ours? Not so much.

False. It's just not enabled by default because it's not a widely supported thing. See here
