Task reminder added to home screen

Is there a way to add a task reminder or to do list to the home screen right under the calender?

This is being worked on for 2.5, but is not yet fully compatible with most current 2.5 roms.
Although these are considered appointments, they can say whatever you enter in.

I don't understand why it was taken off from the previous version. It is such an important tool to have.

I was going to suggest the same thing as inspiringdesigns. It's nice to use, plus 4 levels of customization. ^^
