TP2 locking by itself

First off, please be gentle with me, I am such a complete newb with this awsome phone it is scary!! I am in way over my head and have a bunch of questions I am looking for answers too and asking a few more.

I have had this phone almost from the day VZW put it out and this has always bothered me. The darn thing will just be sitting there and lock on it's own. Is this normal??

On a side note, what is a super easy way for me to back up my contacts before I start fiddling with all these cool roms and cabs? It would make me puke if I lost all my contacts!! I don't use outlook, my company in it's wisdom uses lotus so I have know way of syncing with that

Chris

Re: TP2 locking by itself

It wont lock if you manually turn it off, but if you just let the screen time out it will lock.

Re: TP2 locking by itself

To backup your contacts, save your contacts to the Sim card. It will store up to 250 i believe. Or just plug it in and save them via active sync. I use smartlock 2.0F to lock my my phone whenever the screen is shut off, but if you have one of these programs, it will be in settings/system. to get the contacts on the sim, the program is called sim manager and its in the start menu..

Re: TP2 locking by itself

so sim manager puts it on my sd card?? I just found it and now I have a list of all my contacts on the screen with a checkbox and all checked. When I go to the sd card they are not there. Am I missing something??
I am sorry for sounding so dumb, but I really want to go to win6.5 but until I am sure I have them backed up I won't

Re: TP2 locking by itself

For backing up contacts, emails, texts, calender, etc.. I personally use PIMbackup.
You can set it up to backup whatever you want and then save it to your SD card, and then when you flash it, just use Pimbackup to restore everything.

Here's a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705

I also use SPD backup use actually stores all your data files (windows folder) as well as everything mentioned above. I find SPD is better if you want to keep the shortcuts, bookmarks, little personal details (like google login names, browser history). I don't know if it's free or not though.

Re: TP2 locking by itself

I looked at spd and liked it but havn't paid for it. I had a little bit of problems figuring out the interface but the night I downloaded it my stupid laptop crashed hard (thanks win7) and I have not gotten it back fro mgeeksquad yet. I will try pimbackup too.

I tried all sorts of combinations with locking, unlocking turning it off, turning it on, letting it go to sleep and I can't get it to do it tonight. It is so random I can't figure out what I am doing with it to get it to lock by itself

Re: TP2 locking by itself

Go with myphone. in my opinion its the best program to back up contacts, among several other things.
I also used to use PIM Backup but after 6.5 came out I started having some weird issues with it.
If your still on 6.1 just use your phones browser and go to-->

is so easy and works awesome~!

Re: TP2 locking by itself

if you get a missed call or text, I believe it locks the screen when you come back to access it.
