Anyone using Navigon 7?

Navigon is currently offered at pocketgear.com for $68.36 and I would like to purchase it before it goes up to $89. But I was wondering if anyone has used it yet. I currently use Igo8 which supports TTS but doesn't work on all TP2s in particular with custom roms. I'm hoping this isn't the case with Navigon. I also couldn't find any speed camera warning information. I guess it's only an option for European version? Lastly, does anyone know how updated the maps are? Any help is appreciated...thank you.

Re: Anyone using Navigon 7?

I'm not sure if this is much help, but I have a Navagon unit for my truck. Maps are updated every quarter, or 5 months at the latest. Unlike other vehicle units, detailed traffic updates are free (it tells me about accidents, slow traffic, or cars on fire ahead of me). I would hope these same characteristics are in the mobile version, but I can't say for sure.

Again, I know it doesn't specifically answer the question.

Are you saying just TTS does not work on some custom ROMs. Because I have been dealing with that issue myself with iGuidance. And have come to realize the root cause is VoiceCommand grabbing some resource. And with some VoiceCommand twiddling you can get it to let go and still have VoiceCommand and TTS in GPS Nav software.

Kudo's to DonC for figuring out the twiddle part of VoiceCommand.

I have two TouchPro 2 on custom ROM's that didn't work before, then managed to get them both working but one reverted back on me but I think I left VoiceCommand in the wrong state.

As a first pass disable VoiceCommand, reboot then test your TTS.

Thank you. That's good to know. I'm hoping the PDA version is the same also.

Yes as far as I know only TTS isn't working for custom roms. Atleast for Igo8. I've tried the suggestion on the thread and also tried unchecking "Only during free time" but still no TTS for Igo8. But if resource is an issue, then I have a feeling Navigon TTS will not work either on my phone.

No TTS even with VC disabled.

Which ROMs do you think it works with and which do not?

I've only heard TTS working on stock roms. But I'm hoping Navigon will work with custom. Thus the reason I started this thread. Hopefully someone can give a concrete answer.

Hi,
I've been using Navigon 7 on my Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 for the past year and it works better than solutions that depend on being connected online. Have all of Europe and the only thing today I miss is newer maps than Q3 2008.
