I was playing with an app today on my computer that searches the area for all bluetooth devices (BluetoothView v1.36 -
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bluetooth_viewer.html). Well I opened the program and seen that my TP2 shows up as a device. I figure that I had just left the bluetooth on by accident so I check my phone and sure enough it is turned off. So I restarted my phone thinking maybe it was stuck on and Comm Manager was just misreporting but got the same result after reboot. I checked the settings in the bluetooth management software on the phone and it says the device is not discoverable, verified that the BT radio was disabled but the software was still able to ping my phone. The other weird thing is that the software was able to tell me the name of the phone, what it is (smartphone), and some other info so I know the phone was actively responding. It almost seems as if turning off BT in Comm Manager does nothing but disable the software stack and not the radio itself because no other BT (headset) connect when its disabled. Is this how its suppose to work? I always thought that by disabling BT that I was actually saving some battery life by disabling the radio... I guess I still save some battery not having the stack constantly using the radio to search but... Just thought I would throw this out there.
Edit: I am using the Verizon Offical 6.5 ROM with HardSPL.
