The processor on the phone is a bottleneck right now. That's why you get faster speeds on a data card than on a phone. And even on a phone, you get faster speeds when tethered than you do on the phone itself. |

it will also help with the rendering of the page. For example when the website loads and you flick the screen down, sometimes you get those squared boxes while the rest of the page loads, with a faster processor those loading times are significantly cut.

Re: does a faster processor mean faster speeds??
Yes it absolutely will be faster.
Like a previous poster indicated computers speed depends on all the compoennts but almost always one will be the "bottleneck" this could be the ram, processor connection speed, video card for graphic intense programs, etc. Cell phones have good 3G speed, and with 4G even more so, The hardware including the processor, memory, and chipsetare the most dated. So the new Nexus will have a better browing experience. Force |

Re: does a faster processor mean faster speeds??
For the most part yes, but you also have to look at desktop processors, faster clock speeds don't always equal faster systems. Clock speeds haven't gone up for a while really and actually went down at one point, but the processors themselves were faster because they were more efficient at doing things and could do more per cycle than the old processors. I'm guessing the same applies to mobile processors as well.

Re: does a faster processor mean faster speeds??
I'm with Imnuts. Just think, soon phones will be caring dual, quad, etc. processors. Then it will become even harder to determine the bottleneck.
But, with the two examples you listed then the snapdragon would make a world of difference--provided the RAM available is the same. |

Yep! I was one of the lucky ones that was able to overclock my TP to 800mhz for a good while and everything ran pretty damn quick. I barely ran into the checkered background in opera. Unfortunately, the phone was over-roided and crashed two days later from the overheating
