It will render faster, but the download speeds will be limited to your connection.

The downside to a faster cpu can be a quicker battery drain. i.e. Touch 3rd gen vs. 2nd gen

I have done A/B comparisons with browsing speeds with my TP2 & my 2nd gen ipod touch. The ipod/iphone have faster processors & it is readily apparent when opening browsers etc.

If I need to do a google search, I can bring up google in the safari browser & complete a search while the TP2 is still struggling to open opera.

It really annoyed me over Christmas as my Sisters son was at my house visiting & he has an iphone.

There where a couple times we both reached for our phones to do Google searches at the same time during a conversation. I gave up finally as he was beating me so badly it was embarrassing.......

the iphone has a 600 mhz processor i believe right???? or 6 something, and the tp2 has 528... Now if its that much faster with that little diff in processor, how come the 1ghz snapdragon dont blow the doors off the iphones internet speeds and its almost 400 mhz faster????????

The youtube vids show them pretty equal, and the iphone still loads and loads google instantly vs hd2s like 3 sec.......????????????

The more and more research I do the more I find it doesnt do much in browser speeds, nothing really hard evidence but stuff like this...

I'm really not sure how fast the iphone processor is (& maybe that's not what is making the difference anyway) but I know if I have my ipod touch available & I need to do a fast google search that is what I grab, not the TP2.

Maybe the difference is all in the safari browser (which I love) & the super responsive screen helps too but things like a simple google search can be done almost instantly in the ipod & seem rather tedious on the TP2.

There are certainly things I don't like about safari so it's not all good (it doesn't word wrap, doesn't support flash & won't DL anything) but it is definitely the speed king (& I love how the screen zooms).
