Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

I'm currently using stock WM6.1 ROM. For reasons I can't comprehend, HTC/VZW didn't think we would want the Home and other primary TF3D Tab Screens to auto-rotate, which I find annoying.

I have tried change_screen, and while it worked OK, I found it a bit flakey at times, ending up with a screen half horizontal, half vertical, etc.

I've been poking around the registry and found these keys:

HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName

and

HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList

These seem to define which Apps will take advantage of the GSensor. If so, what would be the correct entries for both of these items in order to get the Home Screen, Weather Tab, Email Tab, Settings Tab, etc. - all the basic TF3D Tabs, to auto-rotate according to the GSensor?

I imagine that's what Gyrate, change_screen, etc. are changing (likely among other things), but I prefer to just manually make the changes I want directly.

Anybody?

Re: Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

This is an easy edit, under the white list key, create a new string value, start/manila are the two value to enter, typed this in a rush walking into interview, let me know if u dont understand this, you can also do youtube and skfire, and just about any program you want under white list

Thanks!

I am a little unclear on the exact syntax, though. For example, in the WhiteList key, there are currently the following:

"Album" with the value "HTCAlbumClass"
"tmail" with the value "Inbox.MainWnd
"Opera" with the value "Opera_MainWndClass"

In addition to those 3, there are other entries there for Calculator, Composer (?), Skyfire TestHTCSensorDemoAP

What is the correct Name(s) and Value(s) to enter? I'm not clear what you advise entering when you say "start/manila."

P.S. Hope things go well in your interview!!

Re: Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

Those are just the programs by default to auto rotate, 80 percent of time, this works: 1st entry is shortcut, 2nd is exexutable, if that doesnt work than i look through all the files of that package in my kitchen, as it faster than looking thru the windows dir on phone, and try different combos, i am free later on so if u need a list for the few i have done and work, let me know and i will post later on, exactly how it would look in the registry

Yup - those programs already in there auto-rotate just fine.

And if you can, when you have time, please post the correct registry names and values for the tabs I mentioned in my first post, along with whatever ones you've found to work correctly.

Thanks!

Re: Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

What is the one for the phones stock slide to answer screen? This is one I would really love to know. It changes orientation on me in the middle of trying to answer and really pisses me off.

Re: Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

Hey there, i am going to export this part of the registry later on directly from the phone, but i need to get to a computer to do it, was going to post it yesterday, but got off real late, didnt even go home, lol. but you will see exactly how the registry should look, at the moment, the programs I have added in properly are: you tube, sprint navigation, adobe reader, skyfire, manila, but dont add in the manila one if you have sense 2.5, it screws up the music tab, tf3d and sense 2.1 will rotate fine in every tab. as for the slide to answer, not sure, i use to rotate the dialer on the tp1, but that gets annoying, reg up in a few, right now catching more zzzzz.

Re: Manually configure Program Rotation via Registry?

Remember that these are not entered as a dword entry, if you are using phm registry editor, click on edit, then click new string value. I personally prefer this as i dont like loading a bunch of apps, let alone something just to rotate an app.

Any program rotation request, just make them here, but be very patient for request, I get very busy, and tired.

Another registry edit to increase speed of rotation polling is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\GSensor]
"PollingInterval"=dworddefault value=23 hex) i set it to 2b hex
Attached Files
File Type: txt rotatation.txt (926 Bytes, 82 views) Click for barcode!

This is much appreciated! I'll play with these later on today, and hopefully they'll not only work, but survive a soft reset (which I find is often a problem with some registry edits).

Now go get some sleep!
