Windows Mobile 6.5.3 & TouchFlo 2.5 Questions...

So I finally managed to load a custom rom and went with Mighty's:

Project Name: IMPACT
Device: RhodiumW
System: Windows Phone® 28014
Interface: HTC Sense 2.5
Date Built: 12/28/09 (Updated @ 11:45pm EST)

I realize this is the latest and possibly buggy but thought I'd try it out...

After a few hour of playing I have a few questions. Not sure if I should post them in Mighty's thread (can't see a known issues post) or if they're general WM/TF problems? Anyway here they are:

(I apologize in advance if these questions should've been asked somewhere else.)

Windows Mobile:

- What's the best way to backup with WM 6.5.3? Still PIM?

- If I cut up an mp3 for certain contacts will these be saved as well as contact info?

- Does it come with a registry editor yet?

- How do I have the task manager show in the top right corner? Preferably at all times.

- What's the best way to soft reset the device? No button for that anymore...

TouchFlo:

- How do I change the quick launch apps on the home screen? (not the tabs)

- How do I link up Facebook to the contacts in my phone?

Apps:

- The YouTube app doesn't have sound?

- When I have the text message window open from the contact there's no X for me to close the program, how do I get out of that screen?

- Is there anyway to get Opera to have a forward button as well as a back? (This is killing me if I accidentally hit back)

- How do I close Opera if I'm in it? There's no X...

- I downloaded Groove Fish but it doesn't seem to work. Is there another program like it that hooks up to Groove Shark? It's a great idea!

General:

- Seems to be slight echo / doesn't sound right on my phone when talking. Just me?

Well, I found out the YouTube app not having sound is a known issue.

If anyone has any other answers, please let me know. Thanks!

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5.3 & TouchFlo 2.5 Questions...

Best way to backup your contacts, calendar etc....ActiveSync backs up on your computer. You can also link your Gmail, GCal along with your GContacts over Google's servers.

You can assign ANY ringtone to any contact...do that by editing the said contact...you'll find it.

PHM Registry Editor (google that one...or search the forum)

Showcase is a decent enough task manager you can hide the button under the clock in a 6.5.3 build. Also, some kitchens have the taskmanager out of the Experia 2 available. It may be available as a cab as well...search and ye will find.

psShutXP is a light weight app that will allow you to reset with going to the button. You can also map that to a hardware button as well.

changing quick launch apps use the menu button on the bottom right...and you should see what you need to remove quick links.

linking facebook...you'll have to go into the contact and slide the slider all the way to the right...think one of the options in one of the soft buttons allow you to link to facebook.

if you bring up the options for Opera...you can exit Opera from there.

What I meant was if I backup the contacts will it backup the associated ring tone as well?

What are the main differences between Showcase and the one from the Experia 2?

Thanks for your other answers!

You can still access the HTC task manager from the top right corner. Haven't figured out exactly when but it comes up easiest when on the home screen. Otherwise, like stated, Showcase is the easiest alternative.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5.3 & TouchFlo 2.5 Questions...

the task manager from X2 seems to be more like the "old" task manager from the TP1 or the one that was shipped with the 6.1 on our TP2. Showcase seems to me a bit more robust...(definitely finger friendly)

If I remember correctly...when properly backed up...all info (including ring tone info) is backed up as well. However, you will have to have the ringtone in the same location as when you backed up your contacts.

the text message window has no X so just slide the slider all the way back to the left and you'll see a back button to take you back to TF3D home

Groovefish has always been on and off...and there's a reason for it...but that reason eludes me for the moment...known issue...

I think you should probably run stock for awhile longer and use the TouchPro 2 cleanup just so you know your way around TF3D

that last bit was just a friendly suggestion...since most of the user built ROM's are closer to the bleeding edge

Ya, I found that out but I'm not sure why the task manager icon doesn't show up. Might be a bug or something I'm guessing.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna experiment with ring tones soon. Just got to decide which ones are worthwhile for which people. I'm also going to try that Groovefish fix to see if it works.

What does the TouchPro 2 cleanup do? Does it just cleanup any settings from old programs that were installed?

Ya, the safe bet would be to stay with the stock ROM but the one from Telus kinda sucks and I've ran with the stock ROM on my TP1 for a year as well. TP was the worst phone of my life.

Anyway, besides some quirks with Mighty's Impact ROM everything's been going pretty good so far and I really like the new WM + TF! If they can get rid of the quirks I'll be really pleased!

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5.3 & TouchFlo 2.5 Questions...

the touchpro 2 cleanup provide a "few" tweaks to make the stock ROM more compliant and user friendly.

if you're already running a custom ROM...you should be good to go. Just remember that no matter how popular or how "stable" a custom ROM might be it'll still have its share of bugs and what not.

If you're with Telus..then you should be good with MightyMike's ROM's since he's a Telus guy too.

You would have enjoyed your TP a whole lot more if you ran a custom on it...but hindsight is 20/20 right?
