Re: Help with Sprint TP2
even after unlocked on att, you will either need the phone activated on sprint, or an active ATT sim card to place calls. borrow one of your friends SIMS, pop it in the phone, and see what happens.
Note that on the GSM side, it will only be 2G, as it lacks the American GSM 3G bands for ATT and Tmobile. And it takes a little bit of editing to get the internet to work, though it should make calls and send SMS's just fine. |

Re: Help with Sprint TP2
first off i want to make sure we are talking about the same terms here. your phone needs to be sim unlocked. (the unlocker you have to pay for). when you do buy it, it's a 3 stage process but it will not only unlock your phone to be able to flash roms but it will unlock your sim so that you can use an ACTIVE at&t sim card and it will recognize the network. i'm pretty sure you don't need to "activate" a phone on at&t's network, just make sure the sim card is active and you should be good. once you're sure that your phone is "sim unlocked", and you have a good sim card in it, go into settings and switch the phones band to gsm and you should be good to make and receive calls.

Re: Help with Sprint TP2
@DAD - I have an active AT&T SIM card. When I put it in the phone it still won't let me make calls. I thought after I SIM unlocked it and flashed the radio to detect AT&T's network that I would be able to use the phone. Unfortunately, it's a no go so far. Thanks for the suggestion though.
@tr0s - yeah the phone is SIM unlocked. I "donated" and got the SIM unlocker from htc-unlocks which flashed the hardSPL, flashed the radios, and SIM unlocked the phone. My phone recognizes my SIM as a GSM SIM and detects the AT&T network but something is keeping my phone from being able to make calls. That's why I'm thinking it needs to be activated first (still not sure). If I have an active AT&T SIM card, should it let me make calls although the phone did not go through Sprint activation? Also another poster said I need to select GSM mode and then select "gsm/umts services then band. tap get settings and select gsm(1900+850)+umts(1900+850)" Don't have my phone with me now so I will try this when I get home. Thanks for your help. |

Re: Help with Sprint TP2
once you change from auto to manual and change the band, you should be cooking with oil.

Re: Help with Sprint TP2
@Dr. - Phone is now working on AT&T! Thanks for your help. I did everything else but I just needed to change the band. Now I am curious about some other minor things. Is there anyway to make the "Hands free activation" page go away? Since I don't need to get it activated, it's just kind of annoying (but a small price to pay in order to enjoy a great phone). Also, how can I configure my web browser to connect only to my WIFI so I don't get charged if it tries to connect to the Edge Network? Thanks!

Re: Help with Sprint TP2
i'm glad you have it working, boss! i need a favor from you...i'm using t-mobile, but some of you are using at&t. when you get a chance, drive around a while in gsm mode and use your phone. let me know if your signal fades or if you have to keep connecting manually to the network, thanks!
