I use CoPilot Live 8. It works great on the TP2. no lag or any other issues. Also only $39USD.

Does it say the street names (text to speech) or just say turn left?

Re: turn by turn gps

I use Google Maps Mobile. It doesn't speak or have 3D but I mean, come on, it's Google. All of the iformation you cold possible want is available in real-time. Business phone number, prices, reviews, etc... all accessible direct from the map. And, it's free.

Except the maps are at least 10 years out of date (I know, I bought the POS) At least it was on sale at the time so I only wasted $20.

I don't even bother installing CP 8 anymore, the maps are so out of date the program is virtually useless (I'm not the only one who noticed this).

Re: turn by turn gps

I like to have the option of using topographic maps, particularly for hiking. and TTS with street names.

Any recommendations?

I notice Amaze has USGS topo maps but the demo seems to indicate it does not speak street names.

Oh, and free would be great

Re: turn by turn gps

Amazegps is not entirely free, you have to pay continously for these features:
Routing calculation
Navigation simulation mode
Turn-by-turn voice guided navigation
2D and 3D (bird view) mapping navigation modes
Arrows navigation mode
Navigation over satellite imagery including ‘bird view’ mode
Optional routing for car, pedestrian, etc.
Routing setup tools: fastest, shortest, etc.
Day and Night automatic modes
Textual routing mode

Actually, Amazegps version 4.5 was free and can still be found online.

See my next post for a link.
