Are these features also available from Google Maps Mobile too?
Google usually offers just about anything that I thought would be nice, so I would be a little surprised if Google Maps for Mobile didn't have these features that Bing for Mobile does.
My preference is to run just one app - Google Maps for Mobile - for movie times, gas prices, etc.
do you just want to use google because of the name? Bing is by far better then google maps, but with the old bing google's maps do look better but thats it. who actually stares at a map, bing has way more features.

I'm not inclined to use Google for its name but for its engine!
I tested both Google Maps and Bing side by side on two phones, and I can't say Bing has a better search engine.
For example, I tried to find ski rental shops near where I'm located, and Bing missed a lot of rental shops (with good reviews according to Google or Yelp) around myneighborhood!
Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to Google Maps, but the way search results are arranged is more intuitive in Google Maps than in Bing..

you are correct there are different search results, then that does vary by user preference. I also like the google map search results but i like bing maps better.

Also, how do you zoom in or out from the touch screen in Bing?
There's gotta be an easier way than going to the Menu->Zoom in/out...

Zooming out has been a bit of an issue, but to zoom in, I'm pretty sure it's just a double tap. I miss the direction pad on my Touch "classic." Just click the button and up or down to zoom in or out.
