Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update

I can confirm it has nothing to do with cabs. I got a stock TP2, flashed it to 6.5, and had this problem without a SINGLE cab being installed or registry tweak added. Completely stock 6.5. I had to hard reset to get te phone back on, it's been ok since then, but I havn't used the phone much.

I'm experiencing this same issue. Thought it might have something to do with a ROM I had so I went back to stock rom and still having this issue. Who did you call to have them replace it, your wireless provider or HTC? Seems to be a hardware problem.....

For my first phone, I went into the verizon store and they gave me a pamphlet, I don't remember the company name, but it's verizon's phone claim service for those who have phone insurance. I had to pay $50 for a replacement.

oh haha, while typing this i remembered. http://www.phoneclaim.com/

After my 2nd one messed up and I took it into the Verizon store and they had a new one mailed out to me for free.

Weird. I haven't had it happen again since the hard reset this past weekend.

I have had mine wake up a little slower than usual once today following an install/removal of a failed slider .cab. Hit the top button&it didn't immediately wake up. touched the red end/power button to confirm it was on/asleep. touched the screen, then the top button and it woke up.

I'm going to keep crossing my fingers that I've seen the last of this issue. We'll see.

Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update

Hey Guys,

This backlight problem has come up in various forums, and until now i haven't been able to find a conclusive answer. But this I know - I have done everything advised everywhere, over many many hours, and I'm now back to the Sprint stock rom, stock everything, and the backlight will not come back on once it's turned off. So, based on this evidence and what I've seen in this and other postings, it's a hardware thing. Fortunately, I have the insurance, but I am not paying a deductible - this is a faulty hardware thing, not my fault. Thanks for posting your ideas, and good luck!!

Wow. I hate telling my friends that the TP2 is the best phone out for Verizon.. and then they ask me how many phones I've gone through already...

If i got one more, it would be my fourth since October.

Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update

Well, for me it seems to be a software issue or just a bad flash. I went back to stock and it went away so I reflashed the Dec 31 EnergyROM. I've been loading software a couple at a time and then waiting and trying to get the back light to not turn on. As of yet I have not had any wake problems what so ever. I've still got about 6 pieces of software to load so I'll keep you up to date on my progress.

Just brought it in yesterday, sprint is replacing it...unfortunately they don't have any in the store, so i have to wait. but, no problems or denials - it's just a hardware thing, they say. too bad, good phone otherwise.

Re: Backlight not turning on since 6.5 update

I had this problem with my 3day old phone. re-flashed still does it. Last time it happened, I called the phone and it vibrated and the keyboard lights came on but I couldn't answer the phone and it wouldn't wake up. Had to press reset button to re-boot phone. I hope someone can figgure this out soon or the phone goes back.:(
