is not caused by flashing roms or software its just a problem with the actual hardware thats wa i was told when i called assurance about the issue on my 3 day old tp2 sprint they replaced it .didnt flash cuz thought it was energy rom but it happend again with stock rom so received another replacement..

I saw this issue briefly just the other day. I wasn't too sure if I was just imagining it because as I was mashing the backlight button, a text came in for me and it "fixed" the issue. I was able to turn the backlight on and off again. Thought it was just me.

It hasn't happened to me again... yet.

Really? A hardware issue? I doubt it.

NEVER happened once when I was running 6.1.

First day after flashing 6.5 and starting reinstalling my .cabs, it happened five times in one day. Push the red end/power button and it suggests pushing the wake button at the top of the device. But it just won't wake up.

Hard reset (which I didn't do the first time around). Talken more care in switching Sence off when istalling cabs, then restarting Sense or soft resetting. Tedious, but it's been three days now without failing to wake up once.

I'm not a hard-core xda programmer... but I gotta think there's some combination of .cabs not playing nice with the power or graphics settings.

Either way, I'll be watching this thread closely and keeping my fingers crossed that I don't exerience this again.

Right, I forgot to mention that this happened only once so far, and only after I flashed the 6.5 rom update from Verizon.

I got that message as well when I tried to press the end/power button. It told me that the backlight was off and so commenced button mashing.

I've seen my problem popping up for others as well.

I was doing fine, except for now.

Last night I had installed PHM Reg Edit and the no push internet cab. Only reg I changed was making Opera to end up in the task manager when I X out.

I come to my phone this morning and it wont turn the screen on (like in the OP)

I just got my Sprint TP2 Monday, Jan 11th, and flashed to EnergyROM Tuesday, Jan 12th, morning. The problem with not waking the device is happening to me at least 10 to 20 times a day! I didn't stay on the stock ROM long enough to see if it did the same thing but with the latest EnergyROM, Dec 31st, it is driving me crazy! I can tell that the phone does actually wake up but just the backlight does not come on. I hope someone out there can find a solution to this. If it isn't a hardware problem then it should go away if I flash back to stock. I've got my EnergyROM backed up so I guess I'll try stock for awhile to see if the problem goes away. I'll advise on the out come.

quick question... i am pretty sure i have push-internet now if i install the no-push internet what is affected on my phone? just curious... thanx
