Can I use Sprite for backup for an upgrade from stock 6.1 to stock 6.5?

I tried searching for this, but I might now be more relevant with the new stock ROMs on the table.

I downloaded and installed the latest Sprite version hoping that it will backup everything for me when I upgrade my stock 6.1 rom to the new 6.5 stock rom. Has this worked before? I want to maintain my applications/settings and programs as close to what I have now as possible.

You can but the chances of it causing problems are great. When upgrading ROMs its best practice to reinstall from scratch.

A full backup utility will jack up the registry. The 6.1 registry is very much different from the 6.5 one.

If you run the backup utility and restore the 6.1 registry over 6.5's, you are asking for a major headache. The thing may not even boot up at all once you restore

I agree will all above, 6.1 and 6.5 are two different monsters, you will be asking for trouble mixing 6.1 reg with 6.5 reg.
