One of my favorite features of manila 2.5 is its nice integration of facebook for contact pictures. I love how nice contact pics pulled down from facebook look on the favorite contacts list, text message screens and the contacts list. However it seems the pics are simply associated with the contact externally within the manila inteface and is not actually written to the contact's database. This really isnt an issue except for the picture that shows up when someone calls me, the picture i see is not the one in manila but rather the old picture i had manually set for the contact. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this?

I noticed this too. The Facebook pictures aren't saved as caller id pictures. But I'm not sure how to fix this. I'd like to know too. Also, on a similar note, will the Facebook picture override the existing caller id picture if it is set from the phone (meaning, if the current caller id picture isn't from Facebook, will the new Facebook pic replace it?).

Re: Manila 2.5 contact pictures/facebook integration

Nope. As far as I can tell, it does not replace it. Every time I hard reset and sync my contacts with google, they come back with the OLD pictures and not the facebook pictures even though i had previously set the contacts to use the facebook picture. It does not get saved in the contacts database. I think manila has some other database that keeps track of what picture goes with what contact.

This needs a fix

Re: Manila 2.5 contact pictures/facebook integration

I don't know if this will help anyone fix this but I've thought about this a little bit. Remember in older versions, Sense 2.1 etc, when you had to hit a button to link contacts? There were 2 checkboxes, save birthday and save photo. These are the contact photos I have permanently saved, the ones from when I was able to check that box. Then there was one checkbox, just for photo, and the same was true. Now there's none, and we have this issue. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Manila 2.5 contact pictures/facebook integration

Oh forgot to get to my main point. So since these options used to be selectable, maybe theres registry values left over for them? I'm not to proficient at digging through the registry, but maybe this will put someone on the right path.

actually in the SsS rom, the FB pic is shown as the caller ID..very interesting, SsS rom is very stock..only it crashes a bit more than juicy's but I'll see how SsS rom is and how well it'll hold up...

HTCotta makes a good point. I remember that too and yes, back then it did save it. Maybe the SsS chef can tell us what he's doing differently??

Re: Manila 2.5 contact pictures/facebook integration

Windows\FBContacts is where the contacts are stored. Sometimes I resort to just saving them manually. I'd like a solution to this problem as well

nice find. the pics are found in the folder 1999tl said. the file names are just long strings of digits and the pics are all rotated for some reason. there has got to be a way to have manila save the pictures into the contacts file entry...like 2.1 did
