This has the disadvantage of not allowing you to know when the message was actually sent. It's not at all uncommon for messages to arrive minutes or even hours after it was actually sent. However it's better than the alternative.
So this is clearly a workaround - do we have any idea as to why this actually happened? |

i talked to a guy at sprint about this issue, actually
pretty much, what he said was that every year at exactly midnight on jan 1st the towers reset.... apparently more people than ever were sending "happy new year!" texts at exactly midnight and it borked the system... he said there are people working on the towers and the computers and it should be fixed within 3 days
