Talking Re: Who plans to go HD2?

My take on Sprint after being with them for 10+ years and in IT for 25+ is that their 3G is quite fast for most things all up the coast fro FL to NY. The 4G is rapidly being deployed and I was shocked when I recently checked to see how many people are covered already. The Palm Pre is touted as 4G ready (I have not verified that since I use the Treo Pro still) but putting out 4G phones will be the easy part.
With Sprint owning 51% of Clear (the 4G guys) and Comcast, Time Warner, Google & Intel as partners do you really think that 4G will fail.
I also just read that Atlanta (or most of it) is now fully 4G ready & operational. This does not even go ito price, try to match SWprint on Price/feature/performance. I do not work for Sprint or own stock, just love technology.
The game can go in almost any direction right now.

To answer your question, Yes I do think wimax will fail, no 4g. Wimax will fail compared to lte which is why Sprint and its investors are saying they have the only wimax system capable of changing to lte easily. That means they themselves know wimax isn't the future.

Also what alot of people aren't thinking about is the fact that the cell phone game is about to change within the next couple of years. If you think long contracts and high cell phone bills is going to be around that much longer you're wrong, the cell phone game is about to change all together. You just read that 4g is available but att and tmobile have those same speeds available now and with hspa + they will be even faster then wimax. The only problem before was that tmobile's coverage was horrible, supposedly that is changing. Like someone else said they have the cheapest plans with no contract, and just as fast internet. When hspa + turns on we won't need new devices but you will with sprint. All your loyalty to sprint will not pay off, what for?

you can do numerous searches for 3gs and hspa + and you will find the answer easily, but here is just a quick link from the ppcgeeks front news page

Out of sheer curiosity why do you think that WiMax will fail on a technical level? It seems to have quite good range and a solid backing for burn money until they can try to become profitable. Here in Chicago they are really pushing it hard and the 4G roll out for Sprint is quite impressive as far as range (40 miles outside of Chicago there is 4G coverage). Now I can't speak to speeds over that range as WiMax speeds decrease with range in theory, but so far the attempt for a wider area roll out is impressive from a coverage level.

wimax will fail on a technical level because its max output is 10mbps. Every other company (verizon, tmobile, and att) have skipped that and are going lte which has max output of 100mbps.

P slim i respect you alot and you do alot for the community, but i have to catch you up in your own theory. You just said that the max output was 21mpbs now you say 100mbps....which one is it???? WiMax i don't think will fail, at the worst it just won't be as popular as LTE and for the records HSPA is not better then sprints 4g. If it was so much better why would they even need to go to LTE????

Plauged with fail. I'm sorry but you should really look for facts and not a single Portland Test

WiMAX is designed to handle speeds between 75Mbps and 268Mbps.

youre confusing what i'm saying. Currently tmobile has 3gs which currently as we speak does 7.2 mbps. Mid year without having to purchase any new device they will have hspa+ which does 21mbps. Now the new thing is wimax which is pushing out up to 10mbps, but they still don't have any devices, and the new thing for all the other companies next year will be lte which does up to 100mbps.

I didn't look at the portland test, I don't even know what you're talking about but when you go on sprints website it says max output for wimax is 10mbps with average speeds between 3-6.

its just like the comparison someone else made earlier about blue ray and hd/dvd. the 3 strongest companies verizon, att, and tmobile (who all get the newest phones) are going lte, and the struggling company is going wimax, who do you think will win? if you were a company and had to support one, which would you choose.
