This is why Sprint never claims they are actually gaining customers on the CDMA siode. You only hear that ridiculous argument on message boards like this because some fanboy a long time ago didn't know how to read a financial statement. So he posted it and everyone else just assumed he was right. Meanwhile Sprint's CEO is admitting the losses and saying it will eventually get better.

#2: I don't know what T-Mobile's 3G is in Georgia. But I do know T-Mobile is aggressively upgrading their network, so you can reasonably expect it to get better in places where it is crappy. Sprint, on the other hand, isn't exactly know for great coverage everywhere either, and they are not aggressivley upgrading their network. They are focusing on WiMax and that's pretty much it. So if you have crappy Sprint coverage, there is no reasonable expectation that it will ever get better. And there are plenty of people with crappy Sprint coverage. Heck, even my own Sprint coverage is barely tolerable. I can barely get a signal at all in my basement opr in the office tower where I work. Both places alternate between no bars on EV, and 1X. I get a good signal outside, but not indoors. And this is not only a major metro area, but in an office tower dowtown (where my AT&T had flawless service, I might add, and my coworker gets great service on his T-Mobile G1).
I have to say that I won't fight you on these points. I can't say what T-mob's converage is like in my area, but I personally own an airrave so my cellphone is usable at home and I don't get a wimax signal inside my work building in the center of a place called Corporate Park in Charlotte. I worked for Sprint long enough to be semi-brainwashed and I won't leave as long as I keep SERO, but I do see good things coming from Sprint in the near future as well.

I'm trying to keep an open mind as much as possible in regards to the networks and their various pros/cons.

I'm trying to keep an open mind too. Like I said, I actually have Sprint right now. I just know that good CDMA devices are fewer and farther between than good GSM devices. And this was even with Verizon, the largest carrier in the nation, using CDMA. How is it going to be when Sprint is the only carrier supporting WiMax?

the fact that sprint is using wimax has nothing to do with the fact of carriers supporting that or not, its only a radio. Where sprint will lose is if they spend all this money on a service and then the max output isn't as high as lte and then they have to rebuild another service to compete with lte, that would be the disadvantage of wimax not blowing up.

Totally wrong. If Sprint is the only carrier using WiMax, nobody will even bother making devices that support it. Kind of like IDEN right now.

While it will certainly be harder to get devices being the only US carrier using Wimax, you can't compare to IDEN. Nobody makes devices for IDEN because it's partially owned by Motorola and they are the only ones that can make devices for it. That is the limiting factor there.

Well you could even cite CDMA as an example. It's harder for CDMA carriers to get good devices than GSM. CDMA still gets some decent devices, but not as many as GSM. And this is with roughly half (or even more than half) of the north American customers being on CDMA. So it can only get worse if Sprint is the only carrier using WiMax (as all signs are pointing to that being the case).

And that is pretty much what that CEO said too, so it's not like this is totally baseless or anything...

What are you talking about? There's a hell of a lot of good smartphone choices on CDMA. More so than GSM (I'm not counting unlocked devices from overseas since they don't support 3G here).

While I don't care for many of the choices, you can't refute that they exist and are viable options for lots of people.

Droid, Hero, Eris, Pre, Pixi, Intrepid, TP2 w/ a freaking 3.5mm jack...CDMA only.

GSM has...umm...G1? The iPhone?

youre getting them mixed up. cdma is still the network, wimax is just a different radio. Making phones for sprint is not going to be affected at all.

That's hilarious you continually bash Sprint (not just this thread, lot's), nitpicking and distorting facts, really pathetic, kinda like the guy who hates his girlfriend and continually talks crap about her, but isn't man enough to leave her, go get an iphone like you wanted before, already.

Not even going to list all of your flawed arguments on this OFFTOPIC topic as it's OFFTOPIC and besides I'd be here well into 2010.

Well gotta go preorder my Sprint HD2, lol

SHow your facts if you have them. Don't come in here and BS us all with nonsense.

For the record, I have never wanted an iPhone and I would love for you to prove it of you are claiming otherwise.

I had AT&T, and I left them for Sprint about 2 months ago. Get your facts straight.

Lets see you refute some of my arguments, like you claim you can. I am speaking in facts, fanboy.
