Google Maps GPS use

After I check "use GPS" in google maps, will the GPS turn off automatically after I exit the application? Or will it stay on and drain my battery?

Just make sure that you have truly closed the program when you're all set and done. Make sure it's not in the running programs/taskbar, and it's always good to have something like Process Manager to make sure you're keeping track of EVERYTHING going on in the background.

Re: Google Maps GPS use

If you don't need "turn by turn" directions, I recommend using GoogleMaps 3.2.1 since it's fully compatible with network tower triangulation. It's faster than GPS and great for battery life when you're searching nearby business. There's also no need to toggle GPS on/off.

You obviously lose a little accuracy.

Also, make sure that you don't have Latitude on as it will continue to update your location even when the program is off.
