Roam Only Registry Edit Reverting on Custom 6.5 ROMs

I have an interesting problem - maybe some of you better informed people can help me out. I'm trying to build a custom ROM with as little third party apps and customizations as possible. To keep things simple, I'm using Windows Mobile 6.5 and the plain HTC Sense 2.1 UI. So far, it's worked fantastically for me. I've used both SSK 3.1 and eRice's clean ROM kitchens, and prefer the clean ROM at the moment, because there's minimal customization on the chef's part (no disabling Push Internet, for example) and he's left it up to me to enable/disable features through a cab if I want, which serves my purposes well.

I've managed to export some registry settings from the stock Sprint ROM and cab them up - mainly the extensions to the phone menu that enable/disable Global Smart Dialing, and a few settings to the phone properties that enable all options. I've also modified the settings to allow for Roam Only.

First off, even by following the directions, I can't get these registry edits cooked into the ROM - I have to use the self created .cab files. I've tried converting them to EXTs, and even OEMs, but no joy. That's mildly annoying, but hey, I could deal with it if it weren't for the main issue.

If I enable the 6.5 Roam Only hack as described here: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=197872 it reverts back to normal (two settings, non Roam Only) when I reboot. All the other settings I export into the phone stick but that. I'd post this into the eRice thread for the clean ROM, but here's where things get funny: It reverts back to normal on SSK 3.1, as well. Not only that, but Juicy has managed to cook Roam Only into his ROM. I've managed a workaround by putting the .cab I created into StartUp, thereby reapplying the settings on each reboot. But that's not really a clean option, if you know what I mean.

if you're wondering which 6.5 versions from the kitchens that I've tried this out on, it doesn't work on:

- eRice's CleanROM (21884)
- SSK 3.1 (21872)

And the ROM that it works on is:

- Juicy's R6 (21884)

Isn't that funny? Juicy's version of 6.5 is exactly the same as eRice's.

Any assistance from you smart people, either a way to cook the reg changes into the ROM (preferred) or a way to make those stick if applied from a .cab (acceptable alternative) would be greatly appreciated.
