OK guys, i'm working on an enhanced Caller State ID recognition. Instead of having it display just the state, i'm either going to try and get the main city (which might be impossible or inaccurate since area codes can be many cities) and state, or just region in state. For instance here in California 626 would be shown as "Southern California" instead of the default "California"
This will take forever because HTC has a million area codes in here. If I can find an up to date database I may be able to add some that may be missing, if any. What do you guys think? Last edited by freeza; 12-17-2009 at 04:43 PM. |

i had a dumb phone that had this feature but you had to pay for it, so this would be nice to have and take advantage of our data connection. btw i used a trial that came with that dumb phone and it was pretty bad at pinning down the city, it was wrong about 75% of the time, so a more general label would be better, but something with better resolution than just the state |

"Ventura County, CA" I like this idea. Although it will take a lot of work and effort. |

even a program that could allow the user to tag area codes to counties/states would be nice. i know it kinda defeats the purpose of finding out what area code is calling you, but then you would not have enter them in all yourself. just leave it up to the user to decide which codes to tag. and if that route were taken, then say ever user had a txt file that was updated when they tagged a new code. that file could then be updated on a forum and allow people to download it. this way every user acts as a supplier to generate a substantial list. you could even have a txt file per state.... i don't know, just ideas. i don't know much about programming so, don't even know if what i said was even possible... |
