Weather Application compatible with Manila (Pocket Weather)
The HTC Weather is pretty brain dead.
It downloads data for a "forecast" and then doesn't advance through the forecast as time moves on. Unless you update hourly it will show the Sun out when it's been dark for hours. Anyway I used WeatherPanel for years and loved it and many folks still do. But I finally moved on to a supported weather app and I like it even better than weather panel called Pocket Weather. What is really great is, it does not require a Windows Mobile Today plugin to be 90% functional. It's "Console App" just runs as a normal WM Application. I just set it up as normal and it updates in the back ground through a Time Service. I update every 2 hours and see 0 impact on the battery. I make it one of my Primary Home Screen ShortCuts and it's working really good. It is however a royal pain in the butt to set up though. Especially with third party ICons that almost everyone uses. What you get that HTC Weather doesn't is: Up to 10 day Forcast. Wind Forecast (this important to me because I own property on the water. Hour by Hour forcast. Like is it gonna rain in the morning, afternoon or all day !! Animated Doplar Radar (which really helps if you want to track a storm) You can animate anything (on some interval) some folks add Traffic Web cams etc. The screen shots on their own web site don't do it justice. http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows...er/description If there is enough interest can write a simple FAQ for setting it up. I find hour by hour forecast really helpful. Like the other day I want to do some yard work on the weekend. It showed "Snow" in HTC. Then I popped up Pocket Weather. and it said snow should start at 2PM. Sure enough on the dot snow flakes were flying at 2PM and I got the work I wanted done in the yard just in time. I love it. I hate web based weather. Check it out. Free 15 day trial. I almost never hit my 15 day limits on all teh software I bought because Engery releases a new ROM every 3 days I want.
