Man, that fixed it! Thanks so much!

If you click on an link from an email, does it load up that address to? Do your shortcuts on the Internet tab work? Or does this just allow you to click on the globe on the internet tab to open Opera Mini?

Good point. I just tried opening a link from a Tweet. It opened Opera Mini, but the URL did not come through. Bummer.

That's because Opera mini is not a native app, and running inside a virtual machine.
Ever wonder why you can't copy/paste on mini?

Java is a virtual machine... that is, it runs independently of the rest of your WM system. Opera Mini is not even aware that your phone is running Windows. It would be the same on any Java enabled phone.

I recall someone found a workaround to make Opera Mini input the address of a link clicked outside the Java runtime environment... it was an app someone made which would basically copy the link to memory, then open opera mini and manually enter each letter by simulating keystrokes.

The problem is, which each version of Opera mini, the manual input method would need to be tweaked. I haven't seen anyone use it in a while, and it seems to be a very last-resort-ish way of going about this.

So does that work as well as for me using Opera 10 b2 to set it as my default as well?

I would assume so. Give it a shot and if it doesn't work, change the registry back.

Just experiment! :-P

highly recommended:

mortscript & jzsmartmort get latest versions
that works great with all browsers & mini52b, including opening links from email & selecting which browser to use.

you can copy/paste from URL bar just press/hold.

this uses copy/paste to open the links in the browser you want...

in jzsettings under operamini5 make sure to match up your edit mode fullscreen/htckeyboard enabled or not (mini keyboard). if you have a mismatch here the URL will fail. just set it up on an imago a few minutes ago. works great on TP2 also.

Get a registry editor for your touch pro2.

Next, edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER (Had to put a space between : and D because it kept making the emoticon :D, but in reality there should not be a space.)

When you choose the : DEFBROWSER there will be options to change some values.

The value that has the file path leading to Opera or PocketIE, whichever is your default, should be changed to the file path that leads to your Opera Mini install.

For example, mine said "Windows\blahblahblah\Opera9.exe or something like that.

It now says "Program Files\Opera Mini\jbed.exe" and the quotes do have to be there or else it won't work.

But like I said, right now it launches Java and then you have to actually choose to launch the Beta from there. I've got no idea how to change that from happening.

Try This: "\Storage Card\Opera Mini 5\OperaMini5-WM-armv4i"

***NOTE THAT I USE THE storage card path BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE MINE IS AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM.
