Re: TP2: Use the Light Sensor to detect that phone is in pocket?
The light sensor isn't actually what shuts the phone off when you put it to your ear to talk, it's a proximity sensor. I don't think there's a way to have it auto lock the phone but PocketShield will lock when you press the power button to shut off the screen and unlock via the light sensor when you press it again to wake it up. So if it wakes in your pocket it stays locked, but outside where there is light, auto unlock. It's a paid program but it's worth every penny.

PocketShield will also do this. Not free, but has some extra perks.

+1 on TouchLockPro!!! Its awesome, runs a heck lot less RAM that PocketShield and S2U2. TouchLockPro runas 38k of RAM, PocketShield runs about 1.7 meg of ram, and S2U2 runs about 4 meg of RAM.
Plus, touchlockpro is totally free. It pwns all the others IMHO.

I'll have a look at touchlockpro, thanks! edit: okay, TLP only unlocks with light, not locks with darkness. Nor does it actually turn off the screen. Any other suggestions? Last edited by DeltaBlast; 12-10-2009 at 07:06 AM. |

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro 2: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)
i'm sure about that. Try making a call, and put your finger over (about 1cm) just above the top left corner of the screen. You can't see it, but that is where the proximity sensor is. Still think it's a light sensor? Do this test in a dark room. How can your phone tell the diference between pitch black, and pitch black with a finger over the proximity sensor? Now, there is also a light sensor. Put the screen on auto brightness, the shine a flashlight to the right of the speaker grill. That is where the light sensor is. There, myth solved! FYI, the new 6.5 roms have a feature that detects when the phone is in a pocket/purse, and will ring louder. Haven't gotten it to work, but it has it.
