Soft Reset Program

1 Attachment(s)
For anyone looking for an easy way to soft reset. Turning the phone off with the power button requires holding the button down and then waiting through the shutdown prompt, the flash screen, etc. This shuts it down immediately and restarts it also. Just tap the Icon, select YES. Done. No pulling off the battery cover and pulling out the stylus either. Yes, I am aware of PShutXP. However, that requires install. This does not. Not that this is any better.

Ok, I know there are other options, however I wanted to post this simple solution for soft resetting your Touch Pro 2 as another alternative.

This requires no install. Simply extract the .exe file from the .rar file provided. Place the Reset.exe file on your Touch Pro 2. I place it with File Explorer int o> Windows > Start Menu > Programs. Then it will show up in your START menu and can also be added to the HTC Sense Programs page.

Just thought I'd share. Remember this is not a .cab file. This is a .rar file to be extracted. The .exe inside is what you copy to your phone.

Interesting, something I will have to download for possible future use.
What is the practical difference between this and a program like "monx_modified_simple_reset" or "MySoftReset.cab" which just puts a shortcut in your start menu that you tap to do the same thing? Just curious.

Probably very much the same thing! LOL! Just no install. You place the file there yourself and the registry does not get edited at all.

Hehe. I just wish I had access to an external soft reset button like the T-Mobile TP2s. The only times I am in dire need of soft resetting is usually when the entire phone locks up and becomes non responsive. But I wouldn't trade my 3.5mm headphone jack for external access to the soft reset button (and I'm too afraid to do the drilling holes in battery covers mods that people have done on this thread!).

I agree, I usually only used the soft reset button my TP1 when the thing froze. Although with all the tweking and modding I've been trying to do lately, it's nice to have a faster way of restarting, then just holding down the power button. I hear ya though!

Re: Soft Reset Program

Just a note, I noticed the Microsoft Marketplace now has a Soft Reset utility available for download/install.

Yet another option :)

I use MySoftReset; but the No Warning version, so when I click it there's no prompt.
