XV6800 Searches Endlessly for Tower with anything but the stock radio ROM
SOLVED! SEE MY POST NEAR END OF THREAD!
Hi All, I have seen other reports of this problem, but never any solutions. I have an XV6800 that I purchased as a backup phone to my touch pro. When I got the touch pro it felt so flimsy that I really did not think it would last. So I am now confident in it and decided to get out the 6800 and put it on eBay. So I decided to play with it a bit before putting it up for sale. If I flash any other radio than what is in the Verizon stock ROMS, upon reboot, the phone will perform an endless search for the Verizon towers. I can force it to connect by dialing *22801 which gets me a U.S. Cellular error message. As soon as I hang up I get a Verizon lock and full EVDO signal. From that point forward, the phone works great! It gets GPS locks in under 10 seconds!! If I could figure out this problem I would be 50/50 on considering moving to the 6800 over the TP. Pandora and streaming audio work flawlessly on the 6800 and it feels like a real phone. There is still no VGA Pandora app that actually works properly... And Audio on the TP has a lot of clicks and pops.... So as I have said, I have seen others report about this issue, but never seen a solution or the OP ever come back saying it was resolved. So I bring up the issue again to see if anyone has any unposted insight into this problem.

If you get a us cellular message then likely you dont have a verizon prl on the phone. What number is your prl under device info?

Well,
Like I said, it works great after I make the initial *22801 call which connects to a USC tower (I guess) and then gets Verizon as soon as I hang up.. It works great. GPS so fast it spins my head, but it endlessly searches for a Verizon signal after every reboot... If I just dial *228 while it says no service, I just get repeated dropped call notices... I do not get it... |

Where did you get your custom rom and radio?

Re: XV6800 Searches Endlessly for Tower with anything but the stock radio ROM
I used the PPC kitchen to make the ROM. I used Verizon as the carrier. The radio is the one from this GAMEDIC thread:

No ideas. Did you install the correct carrier cab?

Found the solution!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...76&postcount=5 Code:
You need to do the following: phone app, dial *22803 or *22802 (whichever one gets you a signal) and hit phone hang-up when you get a signal and it says it's starting to program. Now that you have a signal do the next step. phone app, dial ##778 select "EDIT" and enter the 000000 unlock code select "VIEW INFO" and select "M.IP Settings" Edit MIP_MODE and change to something else, then go back and change it again back to "Mobile IP Preferred". Do the smae for MIP reg retried, retry timeout and pre-registration timeout. Change all the values, ok, then change them again back to the original setting. Settings are: Mob IP Pref, 2 retries, 1750ms retry timeout, 0 pre-reg timeout. When you're all done save and exit - soft-resets your phone. You should be good after this. Good luck! |
