Drew05,

I have an Alltel 6800 and am using an iBook G4. I have set everything up like the video said...it said I could use PAN and under my bluetooth icon I can join the network on the phone. However, I still can't get the iBook to connect to the internet. I opened the bluetooth PAN through internet sharing on the ppc and it dials in and says connected but with airport off, and connected to my network I still can't get onto the internet. What am I doing wrong?

Something you might try is search the forum for the registry hacks to allow you to use the phone as a modem. If you have done that, just PM the specs on your Mac and a list of progs on your Mogul and I'll take a look at it.

The problem with tethering via bluetooth is that bluetooth's maximum asymetrical throughput is ~721/58KBps. That's below what many EVDO users get.

But for Macs...you don't really have a choice. That is unless June Fabrics comes out with Mac version of PDAnet....

Here's some tests:

Bluetooth tethered

USB Tethered

As you can see, bluetooth is much slower for tethering.

Oh...looks like bluetooth tethering is symmetrical...so the maximum up and down is around 432KBps to 486KBps. USB2 is 400MB/s....
