Haha, awesome, and thanks! Yeah hopefully it works just as well for your car. I know that these vent mounts can be somewhat particular on the vents/dash boards that they'll work well w/. I just bought this one on a whim, unsure if it would even open up wide enough to hold the phone sideways, but turns out it does, and i'm really happy w/ it. It also doesn't block any important bits on the phone either, i have access to the usb port so i can plug in my charger, the mic isn't blocked, so i can use the speakerphone, and i can still use all buttons except the 2 buttons that end up behind the screen.

I will admit it's not the prettiest thing in the world, especially without the phone in it. But it works so well for me that i've gotten past that.

also, bracketron makes a couple different versions using the same basic cradle portion but w/ different mounting set ups. I have the one that can be rotated so that's why it sticks up off the dash as far as it does. I don't actually rotate it ever, but the fact that it sits up off the dash works for me to bring it closer to the wheel. They have one that doesn't rotate, so if you don't need that and want it to sit closer to the dash than that would be better, and then they also have ones that mount to your windshield via suction cup and one that sits in your cup holder and holds the device out on an arm. Hopefully you can find of these that will work best for you car.

Re: Car mount

i never got back, but so far i'm happy with the proclip
i changed trucks so i had to buy a new mount for it, but when the time came i didn't hesitiate. so, yeah, proclip is great if you don't want to drill holes in your dash, use the vent, or get a suction cup.
i don't like vent mounts cuz i don't want heat or moisture blowing on my device, and i have had vents fall out.

[quote=answerman;95912]Bought a cheap mount at Wal-Mart for ~$6. Says "XT" or something on it (it was with all the other blue neon stupid looking car accessories). Works great.
That is the same one I got, it works great.

Re: Car mount

I think the vent mounts are just a bad idea. Especially during the summer when your AC is blasting your phone and depending on the humidity condensation will begin to form on the mount or even inside your phone.

Re: Car mount

I use one I got off of eBay for like $12 shipped. It is interchangable between the vent holder and the suction cup. I didn't like the vent option, and its worked great and looks great mounted.

Closing vent on the driver side (Lexus is300) is not possible. It will shut off both central vents. On a second thought, the vent holder provides fair amount of supporting space that block direct air contact from behind, so the water condensation might not be that bad.

Walmart carries a $9 vent mount for cell phone and mp3 player. I bought one today and it works great with lot of snug with my xv6800. The wings on this unit is adjustable to fit other devices.
